At this moment Fred coaches The Galashiels Academy S1 boys, S1 to S3 girls, Gala Fairydean Girls, SFA Girls Development Squad & Gala Hotspur.
In his playing career Fred played for Gala Hotspur, Gala Amateurs, Then played pub league for Dean Rovers and Gluepot was secretary of the pub league until it disbanded in 2005.

Winner of The Scottish association of local sports council/sport Scotland services to sport 2001,
Winner of The James Mclean trust services to sport 2001.
Ettrick & Lauderdale coach of the year 2004,
James Mclean trust coach of the year 2004.
SFA/Macdonalds grass roots merit award for services to football 2003. presented with award by Kenny Dalgliesh at Hampden.
