Ralph Wilson returned to take over from the departing Scott Ritchie as the Rovers got off to a winning start against Kelso in the league in season 2000-2001 and after winning 2 more games in the League they were knocked out of the Border Cup by Earlston on penalties. However the Rovers returned to League duty and winning ways the following week against Hawick Legion and the week after against Cockburnspath. A win in the Scottish Amateur Cup followed before another two league wins to set themselves up for a top of the table clash with Hawick Waverley who with the Rovers were setting the pace. Rovers won 5-3 to put them top of the league by 5 clear points with two games in hand.

Further success in the league continued as Rovers edged towards that all elusive South Cup with hard fought wins over Gala McQueen and Abbeyvale in a penalty decider. The Semi Final was played on the 24th of March and again the jinx continued as the Rovers twice threw away a two goal lead to go down 5-4 to Cole United. Rovers continued to win in the League and on the 3rd of May clinched the title with a win at Coldstream with 6 games in hand over their nearest challengers.

With another 5 league wins their chance to make history was on the 26th of May.  The Rovers ran out 6-0 winners against Cockburnspath at the 'San Siro' and cap a remarkable season for all involved. Although defeated by Hawick Waverley in the Beveridge Cup Final the Rovers went on to win the Waddell Cup the same year to top off a fantastic season.

Pre-season the following year started well with Rovers defeating Gala Fairydean in the Final of the William Gray Memorial Cup 1-0 and moved into the league campaign where they left the last thrashing Stow 6-0 at Netherdale. All good things must come to an end and although drawing against Ayton side away from home the Rovers were to lose their first league game since the last game of season 1999-2000 going down to Kelso 5-3. Rovers went on to win the Border Cup defeating Kelso . The South Cup jinx continued again throwing away a two goal lead to lose to Chirnside 3-2 in the Quarter Finals but regained pole position in the league and were on course for 3 back to back championship wins. And sure enough it came on the 23rd of April, although losing that night their nearest rival Earlston could only manage a draw handed the championship to the Rovers.

More silverware was up for grabs that year but defeats to Leithen Rovers in the Beveridge Cup and Hawick Waverley in the Waddell Cup seen  a disappointing end to the season. This signalled the end of Bryan Templeton's career after 16 continuous seasons at the club, the longest for any player in the clubs history. Manager Ralph Wilson also decided to call it a day handing the reigns over to Ian Hall

Season 2002-2003 saw a disappointing league campaign but it was in the cups that the Rovers dominated. A pre-season win in the William Gray Memorial Cup defeating Gala Fairydean 4-1 was added to with a Border Cup Final win over Kelso. Again the Rovers went in search of the South Cup but again were to fall at the Semi Final stage to Symington Tinto who went on to be eventual winners. Cup glory was again to follow with a Beveridge Cup Final win over Hawick Waverley and a Waddell Cup Final win over Pencaitland. However due to work commitments the Rovers were to lose their manager once again as Ian Hall resigned his position.

Rovers appointed Bryan Templeton and Derek Hancock as co managers in a backroom clear out and while a bad knee stopped Bryan, Derek pulled his boots on once more. A new look side and opened their league campaign with 3 wins before going out of the Border Cup at the first hurdle. After a 16-0 win at Lanarkshire outfit Douglas was followed by a dip in League form that gave Leithen Rovers the edge in the chase title however the title returned to Gala after a year away with a comprehensive win at Hawick Legion on their last game of the season. In the South Cup they went down to Hawick Legion in the Quarter Finals. Further disappointment was to follow when defeat from local rivals Gala McQueen in the final of the Beveridge Cup and again in the quarter final to B Division champions Duns Amateurs after extra time.

The season 2004-2005 saw the Rovers finish a disappointing 4th in the league in which was to be a dramatic final day seeing the league title go to Hawick Waverley. All eyes were on the Rovers to see if they could win the South of Scotland Cup for only the 4th time in their History and the first in 41 years. In a game against their local Border Amateur rivals Chirnside the Rovers dominated for long spells of the match but failed to find the net, squandering several chances and losing the game 2-1.

As the Rovers move into the second half of the decade, a young squad playing the kind of football that the Rovers have become renowned for the future looks bright..........
